Readout of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/U.S. 5th Fleet/Combined Maritime Forces Vice Adm. Curt Renshaw’s Meeting with Royal Saudi Defense Leaders
TAMPA, Fla. -- U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/U.S. 5th Fleet/Combined Maritime Forces Commander Vice Adm. Curt Renshaw met with Saudi defense leaders during a trip to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 6-7.
The meetings included discussions with H.E. General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, the chief of general staff; Vice Adm. Mohammed Al-Ghuraybi, commander, Royal Saudi Naval Forces; Vice Adm. Fahad Al Ghofaily, the deputy chief of defense; Lt. Gen. Fahad al-Salman, commander, Saudi Joint Forces Command; and Rear Adm. Abdullah al-Mutairi, naval component commander, Saudi Joint Forces Command. Renshaw also met with Chargé d’Affaires and additional country team personnel.
The discussions focused on the enduring partnership between the two militaries and enhancing interoperability between the navies of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the U.S.
The leaders explored opportunities to promote freedom of navigation in the region and exchanged views on regional security challenges.
Renshaw acknowledged the significant contributions by Saudi Arabia to regional security, specifically highlighting the role Saudi Arabian Armed Forces take in promoting stability and prosperity alongside global and regional partners.
