The San Gabriel Valley Comedy Festival brings top comedy talent from across the U.S. to Astronaut City, putting the San Gabriel Valley on the comedy map.

ARCADIA, CA, UNITED STATES, September 6, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The 2026 San Gabriel Valley Comedy Festival brought together established comedy headliners and rising talent from across the United States for a celebration of stand-up comedy in the San Gabriel Valley of California.

Hosted at Astronaut City Comedy Club in Arcadia, the festival was designed to showcase both nationally recognized comedians and the next generation of performers looking to make their mark.

The 2026 festival featured comedy headliners with major credits: Aparna Nancherla (Netflix’s The Standups, BoJack Horseman, Late Night with Seth Meyers), Brian Kiley (27-year writer for Conan and two-time Emmy winner), Ahmed Bharoocha (Conan, Comedy Central, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert), Kiki Yeung (Crazy Woke Asians), PK (Kollaboration), Sally Mullins (Amazon Prime’s Sleazy Does It), Hans Sardo (Netflix Is a Joke), and Tony Vinh (international headliner).

The 2026 San Gabriel Valley Comedy Festival also featured headliners Alex Durazzo and Matt Kinney, comedy up-and-comers who won the 2025 San Gabriel Valley Comedy Festival. Durazzo won the Audience Award winner of the 2025 San Gabriel Valley Comedy Festival, and Kinney won the Judge's Award winner of the 2025 San Gabriel Valley Comedy Festival.

Alongside the headliners, the festival opened its doors to comedians from across the country through an application process. The response was exceptionally strong, with applications coming from a highly competitive, top-tier pool of comedians. The selected participants showcased their tight fives nightly, and from that group, 12 comedians were selected as Best of the Fest.

The 2026 Best of the Fest comedians were Aleesa, Amie Lieberman, Chris Cortesi, Corinna Yee, Deja Fabro, Jimil Linton, Lindsey Crowley, Matt Harbert, Mike Whelan, Nick Palatucci, Phil Parker, and Sid Puri. They were chosen from a judges panel that included Naela Durrani (Mic Drop Management and America's Got Talent casting), Paul Blomeyer (Booker of JR's Comedy Club), and Teresa Lo (Owner of Astronaut City).

"The level of talent that performed at the San Gabriel Valley Comedy Festival was awe-inspiring," Lo said. "Many of our audience members were locals who visited the festival to celebrate the San Gabriel Valley. They hadn't heard of many of the comics performing, but feedback was that they were blown away by how funny and original everyone was. The San Gabriel Valley Comedy Festival is THE place to discover talent."

The combination of established headliners and carefully selected emerging talent created a festival that was both a showcase for audiences and an opportunity for comedians to perform alongside some of the industry's most accomplished names.

“This festival was about showing people that you don't have to go to Hollywood to experience great comedy,” said Lo, owner of Astronaut City and founder of the San Gabriel Valley Comedy Festival. “The San Gabriel Valley has an incredible community of performers and comedy fans, and we wanted to put a spotlight on that.”

Lo also sees the festival as part of a larger vision for Astronaut City Comedy Club.

“Astronaut City Comedy Club was built to be a place where comedians can actually form a community,” Lo said. “We want comics to come here, perform, meet other comics, develop their material and feel like this is their home base. At the same time, we want audiences to know that when they come through our doors, they can see comedians they may have never heard of alongside performers they already know and love. You never know who you'll see, and that's exciting.”

The festival also brought increased attention to the San Gabriel Valley as a destination for live comedy. By attracting performers from throughout the United States, the event highlighted the region's growing comedy scene and demonstrated the potential for independent entertainment venues outside of traditional Los Angeles comedy hubs.

“We were really excited to see how far people were willing to travel and how much interest there was from comedians outside of California,” Lo said. “That tells us there is an appetite for something like this here. We want the San Gabriel Valley to become a place that comedians around the country know about.”

For performers, the festival is intended to become an opportunity to be discovered, make industry connections, perform for new audiences and become part of a growing comedy community.

“The goal is to make this something comedians want to be part of every year,” Lo said. “If you are a comic anywhere in the country and you're thinking about applying in the future, we want you to know that we're looking for great comics. We're not just filling spots—we're building a lineup.”

The San Gabriel Valley Comedy Festival is part of Astronaut City's broader commitment to bringing high-quality live entertainment to the San Gabriel Valley. Located in beautiful Arcadia, California, Astronaut City regularly hosts stand-up comedy shows, open mics and other live events, providing a dedicated space for both established performers and comedians developing their craft.

“Astronaut City opened in September 2025. We're proud of what Astronaut City has become, but we're even more excited about where it's going,” Lo said. “The festival showed us that we can bring major comedy talent into the San Gabriel Valley and create something that people throughout the region—and even across the country—pay attention to.”

The San Gabriel Valley Comedy Festival looks forward to building on this year's success and welcoming an even broader group of performers and comedy fans in future editions.
